Mr. W. M. Ananda was appointed as a Board Member of HDFC Bank in February 2021. Mr. Ananda, a Special Grade SLAS Officer, is the Additional Secretary, Housing & Development, at the State Ministry of Rural Housing and Construction & Building Materials Industries Promotion. 

He started his career as an Assistant Director of Establishments in the Ministry of Public Administration in 1998. He held many posts including, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Pasbagekorale & Doluwa, in the Kandy District. While working for the Central Provincial Council he served as Assistant Secretary and Cooperative Commissioner of the Central Province. Thereafter he held the post of Division Secretary of Wilgamuwa and Pallepola in Matale and Nuwara Eliya. He subsequently became the Secretary to the Uva Provincial Council. 

Mr. Ananda holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Peradeniya, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Peradeniya, and a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya.
